Westmont Park is a four acre rose garden nestled inside huge, healthy arbor vita. Situated in Soap Lake where there is neverending sunshine, the roses thrive in their loving environment. This place is good for the soul. There is no way to convey the feeling of the whole garden, but we have had many, many wonderful moments sharing the garden on our Friends of the Lower Grand Coulee Rose Tours. We had people of all ages and walks of life, and all of them felt that there was something special there.
My personal belief is that it was put together with love. The gardeners love what they do and you can feel that when you walk through the gates. It is like being transported to Tuscany....you forget you are in the middle of sagebrush and dry grasses. It is magical.
As an artist it has me constantly inspired and I could paint for the rest of my life and never truly capture the feeling of the place. It seems to transcend cameras. |
